Glenn Crosse, Toronto-based guitarist and arranger releases his magical version of Fotografia -a lesser known and rarely covered gem by Antonio Carlos Jobim. He is joined by fellow Toronto jazz musicians Laura Fernandez on vocals and George Koller on acoustic bass.
Much like an unforgettable photograph or an image in one’s mind, Glenn Crosse’s treatment and arrangement takes the listener to that place where wonder and longing are interlaced. The song is like the memory of a kiss that remains engraved in the heart.
Laura Fernandez adds an intimate and inimitable vocal in Portuguese and English. George Koller plays a powerful and sensitive bowed upright bass to complement the overall groove and feel perfectly.
One of his first compositions from 1959, Antonio Carlos Jobim wrote both lyric and music. The English lyric was written in 1965 by Ray Gilbert. Its evocative and fluid melody is as sensual as it is mysterious and captures the essence of a magical and intimate moment in time.
