“Quarrington and Adams” (aka Q&A) is the singer/ songwriter duo of Tony Quarrington and Zoey Adams. They have been making music together for decades, and between them they have (literally) a hundred years of professional experience. Tony, an accomplished jazz guitarist, has a producer’s JUNO, and hundreds of credits on recordings in all genres. Zoey has extensive experience as a performer in theatre, film, radio, comedy and corporate entertainment. Since 2017 they have been co-writing the 160 plus original tunes which currently comprise their core repertoire.
Their first extended work together took place in 2005, when the late, great STUART McLEAN asked Tony to compose a cycle of songs that came to be called VINYL CAFE : THE MUSICAL. In a national radio broadcast Tony sang the role of Dave, and Zoey portrayed everybody else. Following that experience they began a long stint as the nostalgic jazz duo, PAPER MOON. Then, for a concert engagement in 2017 they challenged themselves to create and perform all original material. They have been writing and performing together ever since!
In 2019 Quarrington and Adams released their all-original Christmas album, “Christmas Dream”, on the Sonic Peach label.
This was followed in 2020 by the stylistically diverse “One More Thing”, which was released digitally as three EPs: Jazz, Folk and Pop.
Quarrington and Adams’ music is catchy, appealing and elegant, and the lyrics always witty and well-crafted.
During the Covid lockdown, the duo wrote, recorded and released three albums and a six song EP (Old School, Demo-Listen Derby, Secret Garden and Winter Warm.
Also during lockdown, the team of Quarrington and Adams wrote their first musical, “FIVE- The Dionnes”, which was staged in 2022 at the Capitol Theatre in North Bay, Ontario.
They are currently gearing up to record two new original jazz albums with award-winning jazz flautist, Bill McBirnie.
The duo has appeared locally at Toronto clubs like the Tranzac, Free Times, De Soto’s, the Senator Winebar, 120 Diner and more. They are regulars at the Winterfolk Festival, in February. They have recently begun a residency at La Rev Mexican restaurant in Toronto’s Junction.
